Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes, we will have a 15-20 minutes call to discuss whether we are a good fit.
What is your fee?
My session fee is $275 for individual therapy and $300 for couples and family therapy.
Do you accept insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider for all insurance plans except Aetna (I am in-network with some Aetna plans). My fee is $275 for individual therapy and $300 for couples and family therapy. If you have out-of-network benefits through your insurance, I can submit claims for you and you will be receiving reimbursement for our sessions (usually 60-80% of the session fee after you have met your deductible).
How do I know if I have out-of-network benefits?
You can call your insurance and ask the following questions:
Does your plan reimburse for out-of-network mental health services?
What is your out-of-network deductible (how much you have to pay before the insurance benefits begin)?
Find out if they set the allowable rates for psychotherapy (CPT code 90834 for individual therapy and 90847 for family therapy). The insurance company might have a lower allowable rate than my fees, this will affect how much they will reimburse.
Find out what percentage of the out-of-network mental health services is covered by your plan.
What is the typical length of a session? How long are the sessions?
Individual sessions are about 45 minutes. Couples and family sessions are a bit longer, usually 50–60 minutes, to give space for everyone’s voices
Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?
I offer both in-person sessions in my office in Brooklyn Heights (26 Court Street, Brooklyn NY 11242), and also virtually using a private and secure HIPPA- compliant telehealth platform.
