Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy for Individuals, Couples, and Families
If you have been diagnosed with autism or ADHD - or suspect you might be neurodivergent - then you know you have a special brain with its own unique strengths and challenges. This is the key principle of neurodiversity: there are natural variations in how the human brain functions, and these differences matter because different brains contribute to human society in different ways. It’s not a blessing or a curse - it can feel like either, depending on how well you understand and manage your differences.
Understanding your mind can help you better recognize your learning and processing style, your interpersonal patterns, and many types of behaviors. In my work with neurodivergent individuals, I take a compassionate, research-based approach to help you understand your mind more deeply, maximize your strengths, and minimize challenges or distressing symptoms.
I pay special attention to the intersection of neurodiversity and mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, sexual health issues, obsessive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, trauma, substance use, and relationship challenges.
A neuro-competent approach is also critically important when working with couples and families in which one or more members are neurodivergent. I specialize in integrating neuro-competent principles into family and couples treatment so that partners and family members can better connect, understand each other, and accept each other’s differences.
