Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy for Individuals, Couples, and Families
If you have been diagnosed with autism and/or ADHD—or suspect that you might be neurodivergent—you may want to learn more about your brain’s unique strengths and challenges. Neurodivergence is a natural variation of human diversity, but being a neurodivergent minority in a predominantly neurotypical world can be challenging.
Understanding your mind can help you better recognize your learning and processing style, interpersonal patterns, and various behaviors. In my work with neurodivergent individuals, I take a compassionate approach to help you understand your mind more deeply, maximize your strengths, and minimize distressing symptoms.
I pay special attention to the intersection of neurodiversity and mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, sexual health issues, obsessive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, and substance use.
A neurodiversity-competent approach is also critically important when working with couples and families in which one or more members are neurodivergent. I specialize in integrating neurodiversity-affirming principles and psychoeducation into couples and family treatment so that partners and family members can better connect, understand one another, and accept one another’s differences.
