Couples Therapy

I am extensively trained in emotion-focused couples therapy (EFT) where a distressed couple is seen as stuck in a negative cycle of communication, where partners are trying to get their needs met and feel heard, yet are unable to reach each other due to layers of unprocessed deep-seated emotion, anxiety, and protective defensiveness.

As a family therapist and as a parent myself, I am particularly well-suited for working with couples who are parents or are planning to become parents, as parenting can present a significant stressor for the relationship.

I also offer pre-marital counseling, which is a short-term and focused treatment centered around a collaboratively selected list of topics with the goal of deeper connection and conflict prevention.

I take an accepting, inclusive, and stigma-free approach in my work with couples of all identities and lifestyles. I work with heterosexual, queer, non-monogamous, sex and kink-positive, as well as neuro-complex couples.  I also integrate principles of sex therapy in my couples work when sexuality or sexual dynamic is part of a couple’s distress.

Sessions are typically 50-60 minutes once of twice per week. My approach to couples therapy is systemic, attachment-based, and experiential.
